Week of action to tackle fly tipping and littering in Partington
A week of action is underway to crack down on fly tipping and littering in the Partington area of Trafford.
A week of action is underway to crack down on fly tipping and littering in the Partington area of Trafford.
Trafford Council’s environmental improvement officers and partners are patrolling the area all this week to make a number of environmental improvements.
These improvements include installing cameras in fly tipping hotspots to record those breaking the law by dumping rubbish in the area, engaging with dog walkers over dog fouling and carrying out litter picks and grounds maintenance improvements.
On Monday, February 23, the Community Payback Team cleared rubbish from the wooded area next to Oak Road Park. The Environmental Improvement Team collected six bags of rubbish, patrolled dog fouling hotspots on Oak Road Park and Cross Lane Park, carried out fly-tipping investigations, investigated two abandoned vehicles and an abandoned caravan and engaged with residents.
And today (Tuesday), the teams will be sending in street cleaning teams, carrying out grounds maintenance improvements and engaging with the public again on the ‘Love where you live’ campaign.’ Tomorrow, (Wednesday) officers will patrol parks and engage with dog walkers about dog fouling as well as organising community litter picks.
The rest of the week will be spent identifying and reporting issues including fly tipping, untidy gardens, abandoned vehicles, and contaminated bins. Also, all businesses in the area will be visited to ensure they have the correct waste disposal methods in place.
On Friday, staff will take part in illegal parking and untaxed vehicle patrols and will organise a skip to be available to residents to dispose of any waste they have on their properties.
The Council is totally committed to improving the environment for residents across Trafford. There are also plans to target other areas of Trafford as part of the environmental improvement campaign.
Cllr Stephen Adshead, Trafford Council’s Executive Member for Highways, Environmental and Traded Services, said:
“We are carrying out this week of action to show Partington residents how much we care about the environment they live in. This Council is committed to improving Trafford and making it more beautiful than it already is.
“We will do everything we can to target and prosecute those people who fly tip, litter and allow their dogs to foul in our parks and on our streets. We will not tolerate crimes of this nature in our borough and we will come after you if you are caught dumping rubbish in our communities. Thank you to everyone involved in this week of action.”
