Environmental improvement officers from Trafford Council along with partners including Amey targeted the area around Higher Road all last week to make a number of environmental improvements.

In all, four community litter picks resulted in 20 bags of litter being collected and 11 issues of fly tipping being investigated by the team. More than 13 commercial waste issues were also identified along with eight domestic waste issues.

The team also discovered abandoned shopping trolleys, an abandoned car and bike and took part in a number of dog fouling patrols. They also delivered 179 Love Where You Live leaflets and attached dog fouling warning stickers to lamp posts. Litter picking kits were also handed out to residents.

The Council is totally committed to improving the environment for residents across Trafford and similar weeks of action have already been carried out in Old Trafford and Partington.

A spokesperson for Trafford Council said:

“This was the Council's latest anti-littering and fly tipping week of action and its again a big success. Our team collected 20 bags of litter from the area, recovered dumped cars and bikes and engaged with local residents.

“We will continue to do everything we can to target and prosecute those people who fly tip, litter and allow their dogs to foul in our parks and on our streets - this will not be tolerated. Thank you to everyone involved in this week of action.”
