Extra waste

Part of: Bin collections over Christmas and New Year

If you have additional household waste and recycling during the Christmas holidays, you should:

  • Separate it and take it to a recycling centre. They will be shut Christmas Day and New Years Day.
  • Place extra cardboard next to the blue bin on your first collection after Christmas.
  • Place up to two small bags of general waste next to the grey bin on your first collection after Christmas. Any additional bags won’t be collected.
  • Put plastic pots, tubs and trays in the black recycling bin (i.e chocolate tubs, meat and fruit trays and yogurt pots).

Leftover food

The Love Food Hate Waste website has recipes that use leftover food, so nothing goes to waste.

Remember that all food waste (including raw, cooked, or expired) can be recycled in the green bin.
