Overview
We are proposing improvements to the junction where Talbot Road, Warwick Road and Brian Statham Way meet, near Old Trafford.
This is a key route for people walking, wheeling and cycling between Stretford, Old Trafford and the city centre. The junction forms part of the Stretford Cycleway. It is the only major junction along the Stretford Cycleway that has not yet been upgraded.
It is also a busy area for people travelling to and from:
- Old Trafford football and cricket grounds
- nearby tram stops
- education facilities
- new developments
Scheme aims
This scheme aims to:
- improve safety and accessibility for all road users
- complete the missing junction on the Stretford Cycleway
- manage pedestrian movement better on event and non-event days
- support regeneration in the area, including Lumina Village and the Civic Quarter
The improvements are funded through the government’s City Region Sustainable Transport Settlement.
