Overview
The layout of Seymour Grove prioritises motor vehicles over cyclists and pedestrians. There is a narrow advisory cycle lane. The pavement width varies between 2m and 6m. At the widest section pavement parking is common.
The current layout:
- obstructs pedestrian movement
- has limited safe pedestrian crossing opportunities
- does not ensure a safe, segregated safe cycling route
- does not provide the necessary linkages to the wider cycle network infrastructure at the junction of Seymour Grove and Talbot Road and with the junction at Manchester Road and Upper Chorlton Road.
To address these, the Seymour Grove Phase 2 scheme was proposed as part of Mayoral Challenge Fund (MCF) application.
