The Council has launched the draft Wharfside Strategic Masterplan.
The Masterplan sets out a proposed vision for the area to support investment and growth over time. This includes a new stadium for Manchester United and up to 15,000 homes, together with transport and other infrastructure.
The masterplan has been developed in partnership with:
- Old Trafford Regeneration Mayoral Development Corporation (MDC)
- Greater Manchester Combined Authority
- Transport for Greater Manchester
Next steps
The Council's Executive Committee will decide whether to approve the plan on the 20 July 2026.
If approved, a formal 8-week consultation period will then start on Tuesday 28 July 2026 and run until Tuesday 22 September 2026.
