Deputy Mayor

Councillor Amy Whyte

Municipal Year 2023/24

 Deputy Mayor

The Deputy Mayor's Consort during her deputy mayoral year is Sarah Hooks.

Amy was first elected to Trafford Council in 2017 representing Broadheath, the area in which she lives with her family. She has served on CYP Scrutiny Committee, core scrutiny, has previously chaired the Standards Committee and the Safety at Sports Grounds Committee and has been Vice Chair of the Employment Committee. She is honoured to be taking on the role of Deputy Mayor of Trafford.

Amy was born in Wythenshawe and lived in Hale, attending Altrincham Grammar before moving to Sale 16 years ago. Amy worked for Carole Nash Insurance in Altrincham for several years before leaving to start a family and complete her degree.

Amy and her partner Sarah have 6 children between them who are between the ages of 15 and 4. When a spaniel, 4 chickens and a tortoise are thrown into the mix there is never a dull moment.

As a Broadheath councillor Amy has worked closely with the Broadheath Partnership, Stamford Brook Residents Association and the newly formed Friends of Woodstock Park.

Amy also serves on the Governing Body for Broadheath Primary School and was the Chair of Tyntesfield Primary School PTA for several years.

Amy has long been involved in community activity, from campaigning to save her school crossing patrol to running a marathon for local charity FOP Friends.

Amy also works at The Pavilion Project in Bowdon Vale working with adults with disabilities, a role that she is passionate about.

As a mother of six, Amy’s social life generally involves driving her children to their varied and numerous activities. She can generally be found cheering on Mersey Valley U11 Panthers or chaperoning backstage for Manchester Musical Youth or Stalder Academy in Sale.
