Paying for care and support at home

You may need to pay towards the cost of getting help and support at home. 

You can use our online contribution calculator to find out how much you might need to pay.

Cost of services

The amount you pay is based on what you can afford. 

We use a financial assessment system to work out how much you are expected to pay on a sliding scale. The maximum costs of services are shown in the table.

Home care - Real Living Wage Provider £23.68 per hour

Billing for these services is in 15-minute blocks. 

If you are assessed as needing two carers at a time, we charge for both carers.

Home care - National Living Wage Provider £23.44 per hour

Billing for these services is in 15-minute blocks. 

If you are assessed as needing two carers at a time, we charge for both carers.

Pendant alarms and telecare  

Level 1: £7.10 per week


Level 2: £8.46 per week


Level 3: £12.19 per week

We will send you an invoice every four weeks with details of how to pay.

If you disagree with the charges

If you believe you’ve been charged incorrectly for the number of hours of care you receive:

  • First, speak directly with your care provider. They may be able to resolve the issue quickly.
  • If the issue remains unresolved, contact the Financial Assessment Team for further support on 0161 912 2106.
