If you believe your concern is an emergency, or if someone is in immediate danger, phone 999.
If you are worried about someone, including friends, family, carers, and professionals, report a concern to us directly. This is called safeguarding.
What to do if you're worried about someone
When speaking to someone you’re worried about, make sure to:
- speak to the person about what you have noticed, being as open and honest as possible
- listen carefully
- write down what has happened or what you are worried about
- tell someone trustworthy
Make sure you:
- don't confront the person you think is responsible for the abuse
- don't destroy the evidence
- don't start to investigate the situation
Reporting a concern
You can submit a concern anonymously.
You can also report a concern about a professional.
To submit a concern, you need the following information:
- details of the person you are concerned about
- details of the incident or concern
- details of the alleged perpetrator (if known)
You can also read about the different types of abuse.

What happens next
Our team looks at online referrals from Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 4:30pm.
After you make a report, we'll arrange for someone to contact you to make sure the person is okay.
We'll then work with you to see if there is anything we can do to help you keep everyone safe. We call this safeguarding.
