Abuse is when someone causes harm to another person. This harm can be:
- Physical
- Sexual
- Emotional or psychological
- Domestic
- Financial
- Discriminatory
- Modern slavery
- Organisational
- Neglect
- Honour-based
- Radicalisation
If you're suffering from the types of abuse listed by an intimate partner, family member or carer, this may be considered a form of domestic abuse.
Both abuse and neglect can be very damaging to a person’s health and wellbeing. In many cases, abuse is also a criminal offence.
