How to apply for a crisis payment

You cannot receive unlimited crisis payments. There is a limit on the value of a crisis payment for each household. You may apply through your Community Hub up to 3 times within a financial year period (April – March) but only if you haven’t exceeded this limit.

The Community Hub will refer you to services who can help to improve your financial situation. For example, applying for benefits you may be entitled to but not claiming.

Who can apply

To apply you must:

be at least 16 years old.
be a resident of Trafford, or about to become a resident of the borough within the next 2 months.
be experiencing immediate financial hardship or a crisis.
have insufficient resources to address financial hardship or a crisis.

What you need to apply

To receive a crisis payment, you must confirm you are or about to become a resident of Trafford. You need to proof of your address, this can be a:

driving licence
utility bill
Council Tax bill
letter (dated within the last 2 months) from Trafford Council or a Housing Association confirming the allocation of a property in Trafford

How to apply

You need to contact your local Community Hub. You can either do this in person or over the phone.

Use the post code of your address to find out which Community Hub you should go to. If you don’t have a fixed address, visit your nearest Community Hub for help.
