How the process works
Part of:
Temporary event notice (TEN)
1. Prepare your notice
- Collect all required details (see above).
- Check your event meets the limits for TENs.
2. Submit your application
- Apply online using our TEN application form.
- If applying by post, also send copies to Greater Manchester Police and Trafford Environmental Health.
3. Pay the fee
- The fee for a TEN is £21.
- Keep your payment receipt reference, as you will need it for the form.
4. Consultation period
The police and environmental health can object if they believe the event will undermine the licensing objectives (crime prevention or public nuisance).
They have 3 working days to submit an objection from the date your notice is received.
If an objection is received, we will hold a hearing to decide whether the event can go ahead.
5. Decision
- We may allow the event or issue a counter notice to stop the event.
- A counter notice will also be issued if you have exceeded the number of TENs permitted.
- You will receive a decision at least 24 hours before the event.
6. Tacit consent
If you apply electronically and do not hear from us within 10 working days, tacit consent applies. You can act as though your notice is granted, provided you have proof of submission.
If your notice is refused
- You can appeal a decision to Trafford Magistrates’ Court within 21 days.
- Appeals must be lodged at least 5 working days before the event.
