What you need to do

Part of: The Digital Switchover

There are some steps you must take to ensure the switchover goes smoothly.

Residents

If you or someone you know relies on a landline or telecare device, such as medical or care alarms, notify the provider of that service.

Informing your provider can delay the switchover and ensure you receive the support needed for a smooth transition.

If you use other connected devices, like alarms or fax machines, check with the equipment supplier or manufacturer to ensure they’ll work with a digital phone line.

Businesses

As well as any analogue phone lines you may use for business phones, if you have other devices connected to your phone line (such as alarm systems, payment lines or CCTV), you might need to upgrade them to make sure they're compatible with the new connection.

If you're unsure about how a device in your business might be affected, contact the equipment supplier or device manufacturer to find out whether it will remain functional on a digital phone line.

Schools

Schools should treat their phone lines the same as business lines. Contact your telecoms provider now to plan your transition to a digital system.
