Trafford residents in low-paid or insecure jobs who want to progress at work are invited to take up free career support.
At least 300 people are set to benefit from Trafford In Work, run by Trafford Council and the Growth Company, with funding from Greater Manchester Combined Authority.
Trained mentors will be on hand to offer information, guidance and pointers to other services where helpful under the initiative which will run until spring 2027, as part of the Working Well suite of programmes.
They will work from the borough’s community hubs, including at weekends and out-of-hours when this makes it easier for residents.
Participants will receive support with training, employability, confidence and motivation, as well as tackling any barriers to their future success.
People are urged to put themselves forward for the programme, which will be tailored to their individual needs and unique circumstances.
Trafford In Work will also team up with employers to offer workforce development support and help those recently made redundant with next steps to a new job.
The programme is open to all residents with mentors particularly wanting to see care leavers as well as people working in the early years, health and social care sectors.
Cllr Liz Patel, Trafford Council’s Executive Member for Economy and Regeneration, said: “We are delighted to be able to offer this service.
“Our aim is to work together to build skills and confidence with residents that will serve them well in their careers for many years to come.”
The Growth Company’s Managing Director for Employment, Michelle Leeson, said: “We’re really pleased to be working with Trafford Council to deliver Trafford In Work across the borough.
“So many people work hard but still end up struggling to pay the bills. It can be difficult to know what to do to tackle this problem when you’re living from pay check to pay check, which is why it’s so important to make sure that people get the support they need to make a change, whether that's earning more money, increasing their hours, getting a more stable contract, or switching careers.
“We aim to build on the success of other Working Well programmes to match our vision of a Greater Manchester where everyone benefits from economic growth.”
