The committee last night approved the Good Growth Plan 2026/27 (GGP) to provide the strategy for the delivery of economic development and a more inclusive economy in Trafford.

The Good Growth Plan (GGP) was produced as a continuation of the 2025 Inclusive Economy Delivery Plan (IEDP) to reflect the funding available to deliver on projects across the borough and to support the Council's priority to provide a 'thriving economy and homes for all'.

The IEDP recorded a number of huge successes including offering courses to hundreds of residents, attracting 634 residents to our Jobs Clubs and launching a new jobs, apprenticeship, training and volunteering platform which was viewed 74,563 times in the first five months. It also launched The Business Relationship Programme, a new Invest in Trafford website, and supported 36 retail businesses with a shop improvement grant.

The GGP will continue this work and will:

  • Help people to gain skills and improve access to employment, to improve household income. investment, and improving our economic resilience.
  • Enable an economy that works for all by supporting businesses.
  • Deliver on our regeneration priorities in town centres and key locations.

Cllr Liz Patel, Trafford Council's Executive Member for Economy and Regeneration, said:

"I am delighted that the Executive has approved the Good Growth Plan 2026/27. This Plan will help us achieve one of our major priorities - to provide a thriving economy and homes for all and gives us a plan to support good growth and an inclusive economy.

"It will also help people to gain skills and give more access to employment and provide investment to improve our economic resilience. In short, the GGP will help create an economy that works for all. Thank you to everyone who has helped make this happen."
