A by-election has been called by Trafford Council following the resignation of Cllr Owain Sutton.
The by-election will take place on Thursday 20 November in the Hale ward, with residents urged not to miss out on voting.
Sara Todd, Returning Officer for Trafford Council, said:
Councils are responsible for a range of essential services and councillors represent their local communities when deciding how these services should be run.
“It’s therefore important you have your say in the democratic process and make sure your voice is heard. It only takes five minutes to register so please check you can vote and please go and vote.”
You can register to vote or check to see if you are registered online. The deadline is midnight on Tuesday 4 November.
People voting at a polling station are required by the Government to show photo identification. If voters do not have an acceptable form of ID, they can apply for a Voter Authority Certificate (VAC). More details about what forms of ID are acceptable, as well as how to apply for a VAC, are available on the Council’s elections webpage.
People can also apply for a postal vote or proxy vote. Postal vote applications must be made by 5pm on Wednesday 5 November and proxy vote applications by 5pm on Wednesday 12 November. More details on how to apply are on the Council’s elections webpage.
The list of candidates standing in the by-election can be viewed at the elections webpage from 5pm on Friday 24 October.
