The Trafford Food Partnership is being launched by the Council and its partners on 14 May at the GM Youth Federation at Partington Youth Centre.

It will involve organisations working together to make healthy, affordable and environmentally-friendly food more accessible to Trafford residents.

The Partnership is open to everyone from health service representatives, food producers and businesses to allotment groups and charities who provide emergency food provision to struggling families.

The emphasis will be based on transforming the entire food system in Trafford. Could we buy more food grown locally to help the environment? Could we give families better access to healthy food? The Trafford Food Partnership will explore and tackle barriers to accessing healthy, locally grown food.

Cllr George Devlin, Trafford Council's Executive Member for Housing and Advice, said:

"I am delighted that the Trafford Food Partnership is being launched in the borough. The Council and its many partners will come together to work on ways to make healthy, affordable and environmentally friendly food more accessible to Trafford residents.

"This group is hugely important - food prices are surging and good food is essential to staying healthy and living well. We have to look at ways to give residents access to affordable, healthy and sustainable food. The Council is committed to helping struggling residents, giving our children the best start in life and helping address the climate crisis."
