Residents are urged to get their garden waste subscriptions in

The deadline is approaching for residents to make sure they receive their lilac 2026/27 garden waste permit in time for the new subscription year.
To make sure they don’t miss a collection, householders are being urged to subscribe before 15 May. They will then receive the permit in time for when the new subscription year begins on 1 June.
Current yellow 2025/26 permits will stop being valid for garden waste collections after 31 May 2026 so residents will need to renew and display a lilac 2026/27 permit to continue receiving collections.
Subscriptions can be applied for after 15 May. However, there might be a gap between garden waste collections.
Cllr Stephen Adshead, Trafford Council’s Executive Member for Highways, Environmental and Traded Services, said:
“Spring has well and truly arrived so there’s going to be more garden waste that needs collecting. Our collection teams will only collect garden waste from bins with a valid permit on so please get your subscription in to avoid any gaps in the service.”
The Council is also putting tags on bins to remind people of the need to subscribe to have garden waste collected.
The cost of the yearly subscription remains the same as last year - £45 for applying online and £50 for applying by phone. The Council has set the online price cheaper to encourage more people to apply online. Paying a yearly subscription charge online means Council administration costs are kept low, resulting in a lower subscription charge.
Any residents who might struggle to pay their subscription charge online can ask friends and family to help, or they can pop into their local library, with computers available at Trafford libraries to go online.
Residents can also share informal arrangements with neighbours. They must make sure the bin they share has the permit sticker clearly visible and is registered to the correct address.
Subscribers will have their garden waste collected weekly. All other bin collections are free of charge.
