Alley gating, keys and repairs

Lockable alley gates on alleyways behind or next to houses help prevent burglary, fly-tipping crime and disorder and antisocial behaviour.

We currently don't have any funding available to install new alley gates.

Order a new or replacement key

If you rent your home and have not been given an alley gate gate key, ask your landlord in the first instance.

Alley gate keys can't be copied like a normal key. If you can't get a key from your landlord or from the previous occupant, you can buy a new one for £19.20 each. To order a new key, email: alleygating@commsec.co.uk.

The key will be sent recorded delivery by our key provider, Commsec Security, to your home address. Post and packaging are included in the price. You will need to provide, your name, address and a contact number when ordering a key.

Report an alley gate problem

If your alley gate is damaged, or the lock is not working/damaged, then email the Community Safety Team at safer.communities@trafford.gov.uk.

You will need to provide:

  • Full name
  • Address
  • Contact number
  • Location of faulty alley/gate lock
