Applications for this scheme will be considered in 2 funding rounds. Applications for Round 1 close on 10 July 2023.

Eligibility

We can consider applications from the following:

  • Voluntary organisations
  • Constituted community or residents groups
  • Faith groups
  • Charities
  • Community interest company
  • Social enterprises

You must have a bank account in the applicant’s name and be based in Greater Manchester. Projects must deliver a benefit to the residents of Trafford.

Exclusions

We will usually not consider funding the following:

  • General appeals
  • Retrospective applications (i.e. the funding of activities that have already taken place or the repayment of money that has already been spent)
  • Projects that do not clearly demonstrate how this grant will enhance or improve community safety
  • Religious activities or projects that promote religion, although we will fund activities carried out by faith groups for wider community benefit
  • Political activities
  • Projects where the main beneficiaries are animals
  • Activities that will not benefit residents of Trafford
  • Funds that directly replaces funding for services which are the primary responsibility of statutory funders, such as local and central government and health authorities or subsidises services delivered through statutory contracts
  • Applications for mainstream public services including schools and hospitals
  • Individuals not associated with an organisation
  • For large capital expenditure 
  • Where organisations have significant unrestricted reserves equivalent to 12 months expenditure
  • Where organisations are in serious financial deficit
  • Large national/regional organisations which enjoy widespread support
  • For work that takes place in schools during school hours

Supporting documents

We will need all the supporting documents listed (as appropriate) before your grant is paid.

  • Constitution
  • Safeguarding Vulnerable Adults/Child Protection Policy (if applicable)
  • Risk assessment for activity to be funded
  • Budget for the current period and the project/activity to be funded
  • Quotes/estimates/costs (where applicable) as outlined in your application
  • Copy of the latest bank statement
  • Conditions of grant (signed) this will be sent to you if you are successful

Evaluations

We do not want to make evaluation too onerous, but we need to demonstrate how your project has made a difference. Therefore we ask you to evaluate your project by letting us know how many people took part, and what difference your project made. We also welcome photographs but ensure permission is obtained if photographing individuals.

  • All grant recipients must provide an evaluation within 12 months of receipt of the grant on the prescribed form
  • Receipts for all expenditure above £200 shall be provided as part of the evaluation to demonstrate the grant was spent appropriately

Terms and conditions

An application under this grants schemes requires agreement to the following conditions.

  • All grant recipients must complete an evaluation
  • We reserve the right to reclaim funds not spent in accordance with the approved grant application, left unspent after one year of receipt or in full/partially for breach of conditions
  • Grant recipients are expected to positively promote the funder GMCA and acknowledge the financial support received in press releases and publicity and include the GMCA logo
  • Recipients must advise us prior to disposing of any resources or equipment funded/part-funded/supplied through the grant application within two years
  • We /GMCA may apply any additional conditions deemed necessary as part of the grant award receipt of grant

Grant agreement

  • Successful applicants will be required to sign an agreement to the grant conditions in advance of receipt of the grant
  • Payments will be made to the organisation within four weeks of receipt of the agreement
  • Payments shall only be made to the organisation named on the application
  • We will not make grant payments to an individual
