Urmston Christmas Lights Switch

On The Urmston Partnership & Indie Urmston bring you the annual Christmas Lights switch on, bigger and better than ever before!

DJ Compere John Locke will be playing all the Christmas Hits. Live performances of traditional Xmas Carols by Flixton Band and Childrens choir plus the new Elf Trail and winter games.

This year also sees the return of the mini-market with stalls selling bratwurst, hot drinks, sweet treats, bar selling beers, mulled wine & soft drinks and last but not least, no lights switch-on wouldn’t be complete without a visit from the big man himself, Santa. Get down and enjoy the start of the M41 festivities!

Longford Park 24 November - 21 December

Christmas Tree fayre in Longford Park

A small christmas tree fayre selling real christmas trees along with stands and other associated festive goods.

The hosting of such a fayre in a scenic location with an organic natural feel in the heart of a community offers the local community, in particular families, the opportunity to make the purchase of the family christmas tree a special event.

The main feature will be the creation of a pop-up forest of real christmas trees through which attendees are able to walk through and choose the one they wish to take home.

John Leigh Park  24 November - 6 January

Advent trail in John Leigh Park

Visit the 10 interactive stations around the park, which represent different aspects of the Christmas story.

The advent trail is open from 4pm on 24 November 2023 until 06 January 2024.

Winter fundraiser at Davyhulme Park 

Join the Friends of Davyhulme Park who are running stalls in the park comprising of a raffle, tombola, cake stall, book stall and children's stalls.

This is to raise money for Friends of Davyhulme Park. The Scout Marching Band will also be there playing music.

11am-2pm

 Victoria Park  2 December

Christmas in Victoria Park

Christmas has arrived in Victoria Park, come down and listen to the school children and choir singing, have a mulled wine and join in the kid’s penny tabletop games and craft activities.

There will also be a visit from Santa!

Walkden Gardens  2 December

Carols around the Dovecote in Walkden Gardens

Celebrate Christmas in Walkden Gardens with carol singing by local school choirs, a brass band will be performing, stalls selling mulled wine and Christmas food. Father Christmas will also be making an appearance. 

An event to bring the community together.

Altrincham Lantern Parade

Feel all Christmassy watching the community performances in Stamford Square from 12 noon and then join in the 40-minute Lantern Parade from 4.45pm from Goose Green around Altrincham town centre, which will finish with a 15-minute festive singalong in Stamford Square.

Worthington Park 10 December

Christmas singalong in Worthington Park

Singalong with the children from a local school who will be performing some Christmas songs on the bandstand in Worthington Park at 1.30pm for about half an hour.

Fundraising for Niemann-Pick Disease.

Stanley Square, Sale 10 December

Rare Finds Flea Market is returning to Sale! 

Come along to the ‘Hiya!’ indoor space from 11-4pm in Stanley Square for a day of festive thrifting with the wonderful community of vintage traders and local businesses rehoming their second-hand items, furniture, fashion, and more in the lead up to Christmas.

Carol singing, words and music of reflection led by Altrincham Baptist church, St George’s church and Friends of John Leigh Park.

Warm drinks and mince pies will be available. Donations will be collected for Barnabus – the charity for homeless people in Manchester and The Boaz Trust.
