Summer Reading Challenge

Get ready to become a Gadgeteer this summer with the Summer Reading Challenge 2022. Science is all around us and this year’s Summer Reading Challenge is all about science, innovation and discovery. Enjoy a summer packed full of reading and exciting science-themed activities and earn exciting rewards along the way.

What is the Summer Reading Challenge and how to sign up

To join the Gadgeteers, just visit any library in Trafford from 9 July. It’s fun and completely free to take part. Borrow and read books over the summer holidays to collect stickers and other rewards. Complete the Challenge by reading six books and you will receive a medal and certificate and the chance to come along to one of our end-of-Challenge celebration parties in the autumn. The Summer Reading Challenge is open to all primary school-aged children and there is a mini-challenge for pre-school children too.

When is this running

The Gadgeteers Summer Reading Challange will run from Saturday 9 July to Saturday 10 September.

What kind of books are included

You can choose and read any book of your choice, in any format. Novels, fact books, picture books, graphic novels, joke books, eBooks and eAudiobooks on BorrowBox all count towards your six books. Check our fantastic special Gadgeteers collection from our online catologue.
