Residents of Trafford are being encouraged to have their say on the future of the borough with the relaunch of the #FutureTrafford initiative.

The campaign, which originally launched in February but was put on hold due to the Coronavirus outbreak, will help to shape the next two years in Trafford, and asks residents to get in touch via email, social media and online with their thoughts and hopes for the future.

#FutureTrafford launches today (Monday 28 September) and runs for four weeks, with each week being themed around a certain topic.  Starting this week with ‘employment and skills’, the next three will look at ‘business recovery’, ‘children and young people’, and finally ‘living well in the community’.

Aileen Edmunds, Head of Social Impact at Trafford Housing Trust, one of the organisations behind the campaign, said:

“Trafford is already a thriving place that hundreds of thousands of people call home and a great place to visit, but we want to uncover what makes it unique and what the focus should be for the next two years as we look to tackle the economic and social impacts of Covid-19.  This is a wonderful chance for residents to play a major role in creating Trafford’s immediate future.

After a difficult and challenging few months we feel the time is right to look forward to a more positive future in the borough, and we would encourage as many people as possible to help to create our goals and aspirations through until 2022.”

Cllr Andrew Western, Leader of Trafford Council, said:

“Trafford is a fantastic place to live, work and learn and we want to make it even better than it already is. #FutureTrafford is a great chance for people to play a role in shaping the future of the borough and I welcome  as many views as possible. The topics covered include employment and skills, business recovery, living well and children and young people – all of which are extremely important. Covid has created difficulties for everyone and this is an opportunity for all us all to help create and look forward to a  positive future for the borough.”
