Trafford’s shops and shoppers are getting an early Christmas boost, with the Council’s ‘Free after 3’ parking scheme launching across the borough.

From 2 December, parking will be free after 3pm in all council-owned car parks and on-street locations between Monday to Saturday. Parking is already free all day on Sundays.

The scheme begins on the day the current lockdown is scheduled to end and aims to help shoppers and visitors to the area to shop longer for less. It also provides a welcome boost to local businesses in Trafford’s town centres by encouraging more people to shop local.

Cllr James Wright, Trafford Council’s Executive Member for Housing and Regeneration, said:

“Free after 3 has proved popular in previous years because it is a great scheme that enables residents to support their local areas.

As a Council we are determined to maintain and improve our successful and thriving town centres in Trafford. Sadly, we’ve seen major disruptions this year due to Covid so it’s really important we can support our local high streets and back our businesses, especially in the run-up to Christmas."

The Free After 3 scheme will run from 2 December to 14 January 2021.

Yellow stickers will be visible at on-street pay and display machines across the borough and in council-owned car parks where the scheme is in operation.
