Trafford Council's parking support for homeworkers

Trafford Council is helping support people forced to work at home due to the Covid lockdown by ceasing parking enforcement for resident permit areas.

The move means that residents do not need to renew permits which are coming to an end until the end of the lockdown period.

Those people without permits who now have to stay at home will also not need to purchase a permit until they are advised to do so.

Cllr Steve Adshead, Trafford Council’s Executive member for Environmental and Regulatory Services, said:

“The current Covid lockdown has changed everything and means the vast majority of us are now working from home.

Trafford Council recognises this and thinks it is unfair to charge people who are normally parking at their workplace. The closure of schools also means that more people are at home during this time. It would be unfair to penalise people through no fault of their own and, for that reason, we are ceasing parking enforcement for resident permit areas until lockdown ends.”

Trafford Council will be asking residents to renew permits once the lockdown is coming to an end. if you have any queries please see our website or email parkingpermits@trafford.gov.uk and we will provide a response as soon as possible.

All other parking restrictions, including parking charges, still apply during this time.
