Apprentice scoops top business award

Trafford Council apprentice Jade Gillick is on cloud nine after scooping a top award.

Jade, who works in Bereavement Services at Altrincham Crematorium, was named Apprentice of the Year at Altrincham and Sale Chamber of Commerce Business Awards.

Jade beat tough competition to pick up the prestigious honour and see her fantastic achievements recognised. It is the second award in quick succession for Jade, who was highly commended in the Council’s EPIC Customer First category at the Council’s Time to Shine Awards in December.

The Chamber's annual ceremony - which was held virtually for the first time in their eight year history - celebrates the region's top organisations and their employees.

In what has been an unprecedented year, Jade stepped up to manage the team working on the chapel front at the crematorium during Covid-19, doing an incredible job to cover a wide range of responsibilities.

She showed exceptional commitment to the service, stepping way above her role as apprentice, and thoroughly deserves every accolade that comes her way.

Cllr Stephen Adshead, Trafford Council’s Executive Member for Environmental and Regulatory Services  said:

"Congratulations to Jade on winning this fantastic award – she really is a special employee.

Jade’s contribution to the service far exceeds what is expected from an apprentice and during the pandemic she has raised the bar even higher. Jade is an extremely valued member of the team and I thank her very much for all her hard work."
