Deadline approaches for business support grant applications

Trafford Council is inviting final applications for Covid-19 business support grants from businesses in the retail, hospitality and leisure sectors that have legally been required to close but not yet benefitted from government assistance.

The Local Restrictions Support Grant (LRSG) scheme will close at the end of this month, and businesses that may be eligible for financial help but have not yet applied are invited to do so as soon as possible before the final deadline of 31 March 2021.

The LRSG is designed to assist retail, hospitality and leisure businesses that were legally required to close during both the current national lockdown and the previous lockdown in November/December 2020. Full eligibility criteria can be found on the Council website.

In the Budget on 3 March it was announced that the LRSG will be replaced with a new Restart Grant. The Council is currently awaiting further guidance on this, and expects to begin payments under the new scheme from next month.

Cllr Tom Ross, Trafford’s Executive Member for Finance and Governance said:

“If you run a business in Trafford and were forced to close over the past five months, please do take a few minutes to check the details on the Council website and see if you are eligible for government support.

We know how hard the pandemic has been for many businesses and we want to make sure that everyone who is entitled to grant support is receiving it.

The final deadline to apply for the LRSG scheme is less than two weeks away and applications cannot be accepted after 31 March, so please do apply in good time and take advantage of all the assistance available.”
