New Trafford Council executive is announced

Trafford Council Leader Tom Ross has unveiled his new executive.

The executive will consist of Cllr Ross and nine portfolio holders, subject to the appointment of Cllr Ross as the Council’s leader at the Annual Meeting on Wednesday 24 May.

The executive members and their portfolios will be:

  • Tom Ross – Leader of the Council
  • Catherine Hynes (Deputy Leader) – Leisure, Arts, Culture and Heritage
  • Karina Carter – Children and Young People
  • Aidan Williams – Climate Change
  • Rose Thompson – Communities and Safety
  • Liz Patel – Economy and Regeneration
  • Joanne Harding – Finance, Change and Governance
  • Jane Slater – Health and Care
  • Stephen Adshead – Highways, Environmental and Traded Services
  • James Wright – Housing and Advice

Cllr Ross, who became Trafford Council leader in January, said:

“I’m delighted at the make-up of my executive. We have hard-working councillors, dedicated to improving the lives of our residents, and they will do a wonderful job.

“This executive also shows my key priorities for our borough. Since I became leader, I’ve focused on giving children the best start in life and Cllr Carter will be carrying on the great work in that area.

“We also need to focus on our addressing the climate crisis, which is why we have a dedicated portfolio for that issue.

“We will also continue to provide the right care for the vulnerable, improve our highways and regenerate our town centres, while maintaining prudent finances.

“Culture can bring joy and wonderment so it’s important this is not ignored. Cllr Hynes’ portfolio will make sure everyone is able to access the fantastic leisure and cultural offerings in our borough.”
