Altrincham public realm works near completion

Widescale public realm works designed to make Altrincham an even better place to live, work and visit are nearing completion.

Trafford Council has carried out extensive work to make vast improvements to George Street, Market Street and Regent Road in the centre of the town.

Overall, the works include providing new footpaths, crossing points, paving, seating, cycle lanes, tree planting/planters and four new disabled parking bays.

Unfortunately, a small number of road closures are being put in place which are necessary for us to finish the improvement work:

  • Regent Road will be closed (between Railway Street and Market Street) 25th June – 14th July (up to 20 days). This will not affect the festival procession taking place on July 1.
  • Market Street will be closed between (Regent Road and High Street) 17th and 21st July (5 days). This closure will not take place while Regent Road is closed

Cllr Liz Patel, Trafford Council’s Executive Member for Economy and Regeneration, said: “The large scale public realm works have almost been finished and are transforming Altrincham completely. The area has improved immensely and I am so pleased with the changes that have taken place.

“This work will improve the area for everyone – particularly pedestrians and cyclists. Thank you to everyone involved in this project – it really will improve Altrincham forever.”

All the public realm improvements in Altrincham are expected to be fully completed by July 2023.
