New village library complete and ready to open soon

Work on a new state-of-the-art library in the heart of Hale village is now complete and the building is ready to open.

The 3,000 sq ft Hale Library and Community Centre – the result of a partnership between Hale Community Trust, Trafford Council and developers Westshield Ltd – is due to open in the Hale Bowling Club pavilion in the near future.

The library, which will offer books, computer use and Wi-fi along with a host of activities, will be located on the first floor of the new building. The ground floor will be used by Hale Bowling Club and will include facilities such as new public toilets and a café.

However, the library opening is being delayed slightly while Trafford Council awaits final certification of the building.

To compensate for the delay, a weekly pop-up library will be opening at St Peter’s Church, Harrop Road, very soon. Further details will be available on our website (www.trafford.gov.uk/libraries), and our social media platforms and existing customers will be contacted by email. Additionally, books, audiobooks, magazines and newspapers are all available online.

Trafford’s other libraries are open, the closest to Hale is Altrincham Library; and the closest library with a car park is Timperley Library.

Cllr Cath Hynes, Trafford Council’s Executive Member for Leisure, Arts, Culture and Heritage, said: “Libraries are extremely important to local communities and we are delighted to be opening this new facility in Hale. We are pleased to have worked closely with the Community Trust to bring forward this fantastic development.”
