Trafford Council and L&Q have begun work on a scheme to regenerate several properties in Sale Moor and bring them back into use as affordable homes.
The homes, at Lindow Court on Northenden Road, have been vacant for a number of years and are undergoing a full refurbishment. There are proposals to deliver nine social rented one and two-bedroom apartments, with 50 per cent of all lettings going to working people living in Sale Moor.
The existing seven bedsit flats will be remodelled to convert them into three two-bedroom apartments, appropriate for families, alongside six one-bedroom apartments. A total of 12 car parking spaces to the rear of Lindow Court will be available to residents, and thermal insulation will be installed to improve the energy efficiency of the building.
Cllr Liz Patel, Trafford Council’s Executive Member for Economy and Regeneration, said: “Trafford Council is totally committed to providing more affordable housing in the borough and this development is the latest to be announced. The housing crisis is getting worse and more and more people are struggling to keep a roof over the heads. We are delighted to be working with our partners on this project which is being funded by the Council’s Affordable Housing Fund. We will continue to do all we can to tackle the crisis.”
