Give young jobseekers a helping hand, employers are urged

Employers are needed to give young jobseekers a helping hand via a careers fair.

Trafford Council’s Apprenticeship & Careers Fair at Trafford College’s Altrincham campus is aimed at students in Years 11 and 13, and those not in employment or education.

The October event aims to show young people the range of available career and apprenticeship opportunities, making this as interactive and engaging as possible.

Businesses can set up a stand to promote their local opportunities to the young people. Priority will be given to employers who are advertising local opportunities that cover a broad range of sectors. They are also asked to bring along details of any live vacancies and those suitable for people leaving education this summer.

Cllr Liz Patel, Trafford Council’s Executive Member for Economy and Regeneration, said:

“Young people come into the business place brimming with enthusiasm and ideas. They will help companies stay relevant and can give the workplace a new lease of life.

“I would urge businesses to come along and advertise their job offers. There is a whole host of young people eager to join the business world so don’t miss out on this great opportunity."

The fair takes place on Thursday 26 October from 2-6pm and includes refreshments. A small charge of £50 is required for each employer as a contribution towards the costs of hosting the event.
