Tributes have been paid to a former long-serving Trafford Councillor

Tributes have been paid to a former long-serving Trafford Councillor who was awarded the MBE.

Popular and much respected Pamela Dixon MBE, from Hale Barns, represented the Brooklands Ward and served as a councillor for an impressive 27 years in total. Mrs Dixon was elected as a councillor from May 1990 to May 1994. She took a year out and was elected as a councillor in May 1995 and served constantly until May 2018.

While Mayor of Trafford from 2004 to 2005, Mrs Dixon, MBE attended over 300 functions and raised more than £50,000 for the Mayor’s Charity Fund.

Mrs Dixon’s greatest honour was being awarded an MBE for services to the community in Altrincham in the Queen's New Year honours list in 2012. She was also granted the title of Honorary Alderman on 28 November 2018.

Mrs Dixon, who served as Chairman of Governors at Heyes Lane Primary School, Timperley, served on the Council’s main Scrutiny Committee. She also had strong ties to the Employment Committee, where she served as Vice-Chairman, and the Joint Consultative Panel. She also served on the Standards Committee and was a substitute member of the Planning Committee.

Mrs Dixon was married to husband Ian and was mother to son Ben.

The flag has been lowered to half-mast at Sale Town Hall and will remain as so until after the funeral.

A funeral service is to be held on Monday 16th October, 11am at St John’s, Brooklands Road. Sale. The family would like anyone wishing to celebrate the life of Mrs Dixon to attend.
