Next stage set for £18m Partington Sports Village plans

Trafford Council is ready to move forward to the next stage of exciting plans for Partington Sports Village.

The latest developments in the £18.3m plans were approved at a meeting of the Council’s Executive on Monday.

The ambitious plans for Partington Sports Village include upgrading Partington Leisure centre with a full multi-million pound refurbishment, improving the BMX track and associated facilities, fully renovating Cross Lane Park changing rooms and building a path around the park to improve access and support walking and running in the area.

Preparations to submit a planning application for the work and beginning construction have also been agreed by councillors.

Cllr Cath Hynes, Trafford Council’s Executive Member for Leisure, Arts, Culture and Heritage, said:

“We’ve applied for levelling-up money to regenerate the sports village, we’ve consulted on the plans, now it’s time to get those plans submitted for approval and then get the leisure centre redeveloped.

“These are exciting times. The new facilities will be brilliant for the whole community. We’re committed to improving the health and wellbeing of all our residents and there’s going to be something for everyone at the improved sports village.”

It’s anticipated that there will be a temporary full closure of Partington Sports Village to allow refurbishment work to take place. Closure would take place from autumn this year to prepare for work being carried throughout 2025. The full refurbishment of the leisure centre is estimated to take up to 15 months with it reopening in January 2026.
