How to apply

Step 1: Prepare your documents
You will need:
- a completed application form
- an operating schedule setting out your activities and opening hours
- a clear plan of the premises
- the correct application fee (see below)
Step 2: Submit your application
Apply online using the GOV.UK service or by post.
- Apply for a new club premises certificate
- Apply to vary a club premises certificate
- Apply for a minor variation
- Notify us of a change to club details or rules
Step 3: Advertise your application
You must:
- display a notice at the premises for 28 days
- publish a notice in a local newspaper within 10 working days of applying
Step 4: Outcome
If no objections are received, your certificate will be granted automatically.
If objections are made, a Licensing Sub-Committee will hold a hearing. The committee can:
- grant the certificate
- grant it with conditions
- remove licensable activities
- refuse the application
We will write to you and anyone who made an objection with the decision.
