How to apply

Step 1: Prepare your documents

You will need:

• a completed application form
• an operating schedule setting out your activities and opening hours
• a clear plan of the premises
• the correct application fee (see below)

Step 2: Submit your application

Apply online using the GOV.UK service or by post.

• Apply for a new club premises certificate
• Apply to vary a club premises certificate
• Apply for a minor variation
• Notify us of a change to club details or rules

Step 3: Advertise your application

You must:

• display a notice at the premises for 28 days
• publish a notice in a local newspaper within 10 working days of applying

Step 4: Outcome

If no objections are received, your certificate will be granted automatically.

If objections are made, a Licensing Sub-Committee will hold a hearing. The committee can:

• grant the certificate
• grant it with conditions
• remove licensable activities
• refuse the application

We will write to you and anyone who made an objection with the decision.
