Prepare your documents

Our documentation guidance for licensing provides extra information on what we will or will not accept when applying for a licence. 

You will need to provide:

  • V5 log book (page 1 and 2) or completed Green Slip (new keepers slip)
  • bill of sale showing the seller’s name, address and signature, and the new owner’s details
  • insurance certificate
  • insurance schedule (fleet owners only)
  • Basic DBS certificate (for each director if you are a company, or if you do not hold a Trafford driver licence, must be dated within 12 months)

If the vehicle compliance has expired, this will be required alongside the other supporting documents.

If you cannot provide all documents, your application will be placed on hold until we receive your documents.
