How to claim funding
Early education providers are responsible for identifying with parents and carers if a child is eligible for the Disability Access Fund.
To claim the funding, you must:
- Confirm that the child receives Disability Living Allowance
- Request a copy of the Disability Living Allowance award letter
- Keep a copy of the evidence for your records
- Record eligibility in the Education Portal
If families need advice about Disability Living Allowance and are already known to Trafford services, they can speak to the Trafford Family Information Service. Email FIS@trafford.gov.uk or call 0161 912 1053.
Families can also contact the national charity Contact for general advice about Disability Living Allowance.
Help claiming DAF
DAF is claimed through the Education Portal. You record a child’s eligibility by uploading a copy of their DLA awards letter, which then submits a funding claim. There is guidance to help.
If you have any questions about claiming the Disability Access Fund, email early.education@trafford.gov.uk.
