Trafford Park and industry

Part of: Our commitment to climate change

Trafford Park is the borough’s largest source of emissions. It is also a major employment area, home to 1,300 businesses and 35,000 employees.

The decarbonisation of Trafford Park is crucial for our goal of achieving net zero emissions by 2038.

Siemens decarbonisation strategy

The strategy is a roadmap to transform Trafford Park into a low-carbon hub by 2038. It focuses on conserving energy and low-carbon technologies such as heat networks, utilisation of waste heat, and hydrogen.

The estimated cost of these works is £1.2 billion, but it would lead to significant opportunities, including revenue streams from technologies such as solar PV, and job creation of up to 1500 new roles. Read the full strategy.
