The club has acquired a 25-acre site, located on the land adjoining where Old Trafford sits today, from Indurent, a leading provider of industrial space and a Blackstone portfolio company.
United will engage directly with businesses impacted by the plans to support them through the transition period.
The club has worked closely with Trafford Council and the Old Trafford Regeneration Mayoral Development Corporation (MDC) on their new stadium plans to ensure they work cohesively with the wider Old Trafford regeneration strategy.
A Strategic Masterplan for Trafford Wharfside – prepared by Trafford Council with support from the MDC and Greater Manchester Combined Authority – will be published on Thursday 9 July, outlining more detailed intentions for large-scale change including further detail of the stadium location.
Cllr Tom Ross, Leader of Trafford Council, said:
“We are delighted to support our partners at Manchester United in moving their ambitious stadium plans forward – and making Old Trafford a truly world-class sporting destination.
“Turning this vision into reality is a huge challenge and we are starting to see it happen, step by step. These are very exciting times indeed. We want the Wharfside area to be a fantastic place to live, work and visit every day, not just on matchdays, and the stadium will provide an epic new home for music and entertainment as well as a range of sports.
“Its surroundings will offer vibrant environs to relax, socialise, be active and have fun. We are excited to see the club’s plans continue to take shape and we are with them all the way.”
