Trafford Mayor Cadet of the Year

We are pleased to announce a new initiative for 2023, the Mayor’s Cadet of the Year.

We have a long and proud history of working with the Armed Forces Community, supporting serving military our veterans and their families. A Gold Award ERS holder since 2019, with a dedicated Armed Forces lead Officer and an Elected Member Armed Forces Champion. 

As part of our Armed Forces Covenant commitments, we offer an additional 10 days paid leave to our Cadet Leaders and Reservist so they are able to complete their training commitments. We have enjoyed involvement with the Cadet Forces in Trafford for many years, and now wish to enhance those relationships by establishing a Cadet of the Year in Trafford.

How to nominate a Cadet

You can nominate a Cadet by filling in an application form and email to armed.forces@trafford.gov.uk with the subject line Cadet nomination. Nominations must be returned by 31July 2023. 

The winning Cadet 

All applications will be judged by a panel of Council Officers and Councillors in August, the winning cadet will be announced by September. The winning cadet together with their family and their Cadet Leader will be invited to Trafford Town Hall, where they will receive a bespoke trophy. 

The role of Cadet of the Year will involve the successful Cadet attending Armed Forces Events and Services with the 2023/24 Mayor of Trafford, Cllr O’Sullivan.
