Apprenticeship Levy Gifting

Since 1 April 2017 we, along with many other companies, have paid into an apprenticeship levy pot. So far, we have used these funds to support 217 people to successfully complete an apprenticeship qualification. 

Following this success, we are now launching our external Levy Gifting Fund.   

We maybe to offer financial support to pay 100% of the training costs for an apprenticeship qualification from level 2 to 7 if you are not already paying into an existing levy pot.

Business eligibility

  • Must be a Trafford business or offer services to Trafford Residents
  • Use our preferred training provider
  • Agree to undertake quarterly check in meetings with us to advise on the progression of the apprentices

Employment standards

The apprentice must be employed by you for at least the time it takes to complete their apprenticeship programme and need to be paid at least the National Living Wage for 21+ years of age, regardless of their actual age.

The funding covers the cost of the provision of the apprenticeship training as detailed in the relevant apprenticeship standard. Any additional training costs such as registration of professional bodies will need to be met by you.

Administrative requirements

Apprentices must have a signed and dated contract of employment, including:

  • hours of work
  • apprentices home address
  • hourly rate of pay
  • length of contract

You need to comply with the ESFA Apprenticeship funding rules and guidance for employers and the terms of this Agreement in respect of its use of Transferred Funds to pay for apprenticeship.

Industry and sector priorities

We will accept requests from any business, but priority will be given to:

  • Trafford schools who are non-maintained who buy our payroll SLA
  • Trafford commissioned services such as adult and social care providers
  • Green Economy
  • Construction
  • Manufacturing
  • Digital
  • Health & Social Care

Applications for funding are not guaranteed it will be subject to available funds. Responses to requests make take up to a month to be received.
