Search is on for the Mayor's Cadet of the Year

A new Armed Forces initiative has been launched in the borough – the Mayor of Trafford Council’s Cadet of the Year 2023.

The successful cadet’s role will include attending Armed Forces events and services with the 2023/24 Mayor of Trafford, Cllr Dolores O’Sullivan, and the Council’s Armed Forces lead officer.

The winning cadet, together with their family and their cadet leader, will be invited to Trafford Town Hall, where they will receive a bespoke trophy. Nominations for the award will be accepted from cadet leaders each year in July. All applications will be judged by a panel of Council Officers and Councillors in August and the winning cadet will be announced in September.

Cllr O’Sullivan said: “I am delighted to be able to announce the new Trafford Cadet of the Year initiative. Trafford Council has a long and proud history of working with the Armed Forces community, supporting serving military veterans and their families.

“We have enjoyed involvement with the cadet forces for many years, and now wish to enhance those relationships by establishing a Cadet of the Year in Trafford. I very much look forward to meeting and working with the successful Cadet of the Year.”
