Event parking Permit only parking restrictions apply in the areas listed below on an event day. We set up up these zones to make sure residents have priority for parking in the local area. The dates and times of the next event days are advertised on signs when entering the area. Our parking restrictions calendar page also has a list of upcoming event days. If you are a motorist it is your responsibility to be aware of event dates so you know when parking is restricted. On event days we encourage visitors to use public transport to travel to Trafford. You can find more details on our public transport page. Information boards are situated on all routes into the restricted areas and display the dates and times of the next restricted event. Old Trafford permit parking schemes These permit schemes are designated "Past This Point" and are signposted at all points into and out of the restricted area. Restrictions apply for events at both Old Trafford and Emirates Old Trafford Permit holders only past this point signs are used to indicate a whole area which is restricted to permit holders only. The restriction is displayed on electronic signs at the point of entry to the area, rather than at intervals along the road. Please be aware that there are no bays marked out on the road in these areas. Permit holders displaying the relevant permit can park within the area, except where yellow lines indicate a waiting restriction is in place. This area is split into five separate permit schemes. Only certain schemes may be restricted on an event day at Emirates Old Trafford as attendances can vary for events, however restrictions apply for all events at Old Trafford Football Stadium. The electronic entry signs display when restrictions apply. Illicit match day parking activity Unfortunately, there have been incidents of drivers being targeted on event days and directed to park on yellow lines and in restricted permit parking bays in the roads surrounding Old Trafford and charged a fee to do so. The individuals undertaking such activities are often dressed to suggest they are official Trafford Council employees and may claim verbally to be working for or on behalf of Trafford. Greater Manchester Police are aware that these activities may occur and will take action to prevent them when observed. We not allow vehicles to be parked on yellow lines or in permit-only parking bays and do not employ operatives to collect payment for parking on-street. If a vehicle is observed to be parked in contravention of any parking restrictions a penalty charge notice may be issued. Please check for any road markings and restriction signs before leaving your vehicle parked.
