We asked residents, businesses, and users of the area to have their say on the proposals to help shape the final scheme layout.
The consultation on these proposals ran from 12 to 25 May 2025 and received 232 responses (220 online and 12 paper copies).

Summary of the outcomes
As a summary of the outcomes:
- support: 35% of respondents supported the scheme, 14% opposed it, and 50% were neutral
- most respondents felt the scheme would positively impact walking, cycling, and wheeling, even if it might slightly impact driving
- majority support was recorded for all interventions
In terms of preferences and suggested changes for the designers to include post-consultation include:
- strong support (44%) for the western option at the A6144/Broadway junction
- considering converting Bailey Lane into only a one-way road
- considering amending the Broadway proposals to have verges/landscaping on either side and to change the layout to encourage slower speeds
Next steps
The next steps are to process these proposed interventions into a detailed design and finalise the business case to submit for approval in Spring 2026.
