Overview
Emerging from the work in the wider Carrington/New Carrington/Partington area there is a separate/complementary opportunity to explore active/sustainable travels schemes focusing specifically in Partington Village.
This initiative aims integrate projects such as the redevelopment of the Partington Sports Village and the neighbouring Cross Lane Park.
Objectives
To package a series of improvements that will:
- integrate and connect the local community through sustainable means
- prioritising walking, wheeling, and cycling to foster healthier lifestyles
- improve affordable access to local retail, heath and community amenities
- safer routes for children (and parents) to get to and from school
- improve local infrastructure and place through investment
- reduce car dependency, address environmental impact, and enhancing the overall quality of life of residents
- ensure that Partington can be fully integrated into a future sustainable travel transport network

Scheme funding
The scheme is funded through the City Region Sustainable Transport Settlement. It forms part of wider Bee Network improvements across Greater Manchester.
In June 2026, the Bee Network Committee formally approved the drawdown and allocation of CRSTS funding for Connecting Partington scheme. This was recommended by TfGM and the GMCA.
