Types of service

Part of: Cremations

The choice to have a service at a cremation is entirely up to you.

It is often led by the wishes of the deceased and how they want their life to be commemorated.

We have different service options available at Altrincham.

Direct services

Direct services can also be known as:

  • unattended cremation
  • pure cremation
  • simple service
  • no fuss service
  • cremation only

This takes place without mourners or a traditional service.

A piece of music is played as the coffin is brought into the chapel. The coffin is placed and the curtains closed.

Direct service with mourners

This option allows up to 10 people to attend in the chapel. No words can be said but people are able to pay their own respects.

This option allows:

  • two pieces of music to be played
  • a single photograph to be displayed

Direct service with a video

The service is recorded and can be personalised with your own tributes.

This option allows:

  • a choice of entry music to be played
  • a single photograph to be displayed

This video represents how a direct service takes place and is an example of the video you will receive. If you would like a copy of your service in this format, it can be ordered up to 28 days after a service.

There are options to enhance the tribute and make it more personal by adding photographs and poems.

Full service in chapel

A full service allows mourners and remembers the deceased's life and celebrating their unique qualities.

The service can include:

  • readings
  • prayers
  • eulogies
  • music (live or recorded)
  • photographs
  • videos

For the committal, you have the option between full curtains and voiles. The voiles, allow you to still see the outline of the coffin as you leave the chapel.

Service length

We offer different lengths of service. 5 minutes are allocated on either side of the service to allow family and mourners to enter and leave the chapel.

Length of chapel booking Service length
30 minutes 20 minutes
45 minutes 35 minutes

Personalising your service

The ceremony can be live streamed around the world and recordings made for family and friends.

We work with you to try to accommodate your wishes to make the service as personal as possible to the deceased. For example:

  • military and other uniformed services

  • brass bands

  • choirs

  • sporting representation

The area surrounding the coffin can be backlit with a colour of your choosing.

Your funeral director, minister or celebrant will be able to advise on the options available.

Music or media

We use Obitus to provide our media support. Their website provides more information on the services they offer.
