This grant helps shops pay for repairs and changes to their shopfront or inside the shop.
What the grant can pay for
- shopfront repairs (new door, frame, paint)
- new signs and lighting
- better access for customers (ramps, handrails)
- inside decoration and repairs
- new windows or doors
Your application must say:
- what work you will do
- what will change or improve (outcomes and outputs)
- how much it will cost
- how much extra money you will add
We encourage businesses to make improvements to the property’s energy rating (from the Energy Performance Certificate). We also encourage improvements to improve customer accessibility.
What the grant can't pay for
- VAT that you can claim back
- running the business (wages, stock, day‑to‑day bills)
- marketing or advertising
- professional fees (legal or accountancy)
- unfixed items (chairs, tables or portable cooking gear)
- investment opportunities not part of the works
- revenue costs
