Gambling premises licence

You need a gambling premises licence if you want to run a betting shop, bingo hall, casino, or other premises offering gambling activities in Trafford.

Licences are issued under the Gambling Act 2005.

They are separate from alcohol and entertainment licences under the Licensing Act 2003.

You must have, or have applied for, the correct operating licence from the Gambling Commission before you apply to Trafford Council for a premises licence.

  • a valid or pending Gambling Commission operating licence
  • the right to occupy the premises (for example, ownership or a lease)
