Public notice at the premises
You must display a notice of your application:
- on or near the premises
- where it can be easily read by the public
- for 28 consecutive days from the day after you submit your application
The notice must include:
- your name (or the company name)
- the address of the premises
- the type of licence you have applied for
- the date the application was made
- a statement explaining that representations can be made to Trafford Council
- the deadline for making representations
If the notice is damaged or removed during the 28 days, you must replace it immediately.
Newspaper advertisement
You must also publish an advertisement in a local newspaper:
- within 10 working days of submitting your application
- clearly showing the same information as the public notice
Make sure the newspaper is widely available in the area of the premises.
Why this matters
The display and advertisement period gives responsible authorities and local residents 28 days to make representations about your application.
If you do not display or advertise your application correctly, your application may be delayed or rejected.
