Becoming an early education provider

To deliver funded early education places, you must be on the Ofsted early years register and signed up to the Trafford directory of early education providers.

The type of funding you can deliver will depend on your Ofsted judgement:

  • Universal Entitlement (3 and 4 year-olds) - outstanding, good, requires improvement, not yet inspected.
  • Working Parent Entitlement (eligible 2, 3 and 4 year-olds) - outstanding, good, requires improvement, not yet inspected.
  • 2 year-old funding (disadvantaged 2 year-olds) - outstanding, good or not yet been inspected.
  • Childminders are unable to deliver any early education places to their own child or a related child.

Joining the directory

If you meet this critera and want to join the directory, you need to read the Provider Agreement and complete the online declaration form confirming you agree to the terms of the agreement.

Private Voluntary and Independent Settings (PVI)

Complete the online form. This must be completed and signed by the Ofsted Registered Person or for limited companies a director of the business who can be verifiied with Companies House. Should the manager, Ofsted registered person or director change, it is your responsibility to notify the Early Years Service.

Schools

Complete the online form. This must be completed and signed by the Head or Executive Headteacher. Should the Head or Executive Head change, it is your responsibility to notify the Early Years Service.

Leaving the directory

You can leave the directory at any time by emailing early.education@trafford.gov.uk.

There is a withdrawal process for providers that have been judged as inadequate or requires improvement by Ofsted. Providers have a right of appeal against the decision to withdraw funding.
